1. What makes Brilliant Advice different?
Like every industry, the financial services industry is changing and we want to adapt to the changes in all the ways we can to benefit you. We now have tools that allow us to create financial plans in collaboration with you, turning what might have been your advisor’s plan for you into a plan that is truly yours. Also, no longer do you have to wait for a quarterly report to see your investment results. We can provide you with 24/7 access to all your investment information on all of your accounts. And, if you wish, you can receive a daily balance and results update via your email or text. What really differentiates us is that we can provide all of our services at a lower cost. 2. What are your services?
We tailor our services to your needs, but in general we provide three main services. One, we can help you get clear on what is important to you in life. We call this Imagine. Two, we have many tools that can help you develop a plan(s) to ensure that you have the financial resources you’ll need. This is called Create. And three, we select and manage your investment portfolio so that you can Live. Since no two people are alike, our approach and the tools we use are customized for you.
3. Tell me about your unique approach to charging for your services?
Yes, our approach is quite unique. First and foremost, we will treat you in the same way as all of our clients. This means that unlike most advisors, we do not negotiate our fees. This is actually to your benefit because we don’t treat you like an airline customer where some pay more and others pay less to go to the same destination. Our fair and transparent approach allows you to calculate your fee right on our website.
4. How often will you meet with me?
As often as you would like us to. If you have questions and need advice, we are generous with our time. If you would like to do other things with your life besides talk about your future plans and your money, we will follow your lead. Rest assured, your investment portfolio is under our constant review. Of course, you will have 24/7 access to ALL your investment accounts and your financial plan through our client portals. 5. Where are my accounts held?
We do not hold or have access to your accounts. This gives you a huge measure of protection from fraud and theft. We use the services of independent third-party custodians like Charles Schwab, TD Ameritrade, TIAA and other financial service organizations who hold the monies you may have in retirement plans and college savings accounts.
6. Can you give me a general idea of the types of investments you will make?
Global and diversified. We make investments globally because it increases the opportunities we have to find attractive investments. It is not always the case that the most attractive investments are just in the United States. We prefer to use low-cost mutual funds and exchange-traded funds (“ETFs”) and other publicly available diversified investment vehicles. We are also capable of managing portfolios of individual securities, particularly existing portfolios which may contain appreciated positions. By the way, we invest our own personal assets right alongside those of our clients using the same investment vehicles.
7. Can you describe how you develop financial plans?
We sit down with you and together we build a financial plan using the latest financial planning technology tools. We do this collaboratively because it’s not our plan, it’s your plan. We aim to be “brilliant” in the way we operate. Think of an LED light, which is technologically advanced and produces its output – light – (in our case, advice) efficiently. We are transparent with our fees and in our business practices. We aim to deliver exceptional services and offer a distinctive client experience.
